Russell Ackoff on the Philosophy of W Edwards Deming. Vs the reality of A corporation says that its principle value is maximizing shareholder value. That’s non-sense. If that were the case executives wouldn’t fly around on private jets and have Philippine mahogany lined offices and the rest of it. The principle function to those executives is to provide those executives with the quality of work life that they like. And profit is merely a means which guarantees their ability to do it.

John Ohno: Bot capitalism will fail. There’s been a lot of hype surrounding chat bots lately. I love bots, and usually I’m all for getting excited about the things I love, but I think the recent hype is very misguided. The reason is that the people contributing to the current hype bubble surrounding bots are not natural persons but corporate persons: they are excited about bots as products. (more)

Michael Strong: How to Give Everyone a Great Education for Free. After graduating from one of my schools, Cade Summers got a few friends together on a Discord server and they read and discussed Napoleon Hill’s classic Think and Grow Rich for a few months. Then they started to work through Harvard CS50 together and finished it. With an official Harvard certificate of successfully completing Harvard CS50 in hand, at eighteen Cade was able to get an entry level job at a software company in Austin and gradually work his way up to a software developer position.
